Picks for the day Saturday June 8th

Updated: Jun 11, 2019

We've selected a few thing for you to do!

Handwerkerfest - Wie Menschen Dinge mach(t)en (Craft Fest, How people make (made) things)

10 am - 6 pm

Experience old trades close up! The focus is on the production of tools made of iron. On a path of hands-on and demonstration stations, the individual steps can be traced. Woods are processed, the last Wanderköhler Germany makes a kiln flames, iron is smelted and the blacksmith molds it on hot coals. But watching is not enough: each station requires resources, and to reach them, the whole family is in demand.

Karneval Der Kulturen

07.06.19-10.06.19

From 7th to 10th of June 2019, Berlin shows its colours.Numerous groups of different nationalities present music, dance, performance, visual arts and acrobatics at the Carnival of Cultures on moving cars. There are parades of course, but also events throughout town in various locations. Travel around the world this weekend!

Homeless Veggie Dinner

6 pm - 9.30 pm

No need to be homeless to attend this event, you can leave a donation that helps further the initiative, and help people come out of their circle a bit. If you are or know someone indeed you can of course attend totally free. The poor/homeless community is a very segregated community and their daily interactions revolve around their fellow peers and social workers. They very seldom have the chance to venture outside these circles, so having a venue where they can meet people of other social ranks and talk to them and tell them about their lives and interests and passions is of great value to them. Coming to this dinner you give them the possibility to shine, even if only for one evening a month.

Sommerkino | Der Junge muss an die frische Luft

9.45 pm - 0.45 am

Arte is curating a series of open air movie screenings. Tonight "Der Junge muss an die frische Luft" is showing. Oscar-winning actress Caroline Link films the autobiography of Hape Kerkeling and walks on the fine line between light humor and deep seriousness - like the author. Atmospheric and atmospherically dense.

RFFA: Records From Far Away

10 pm - 4 AM

Records From Far Away is a collective based in Berlin that aims to support and promote ethnic music and its derivatives. Go and listen to far away sounds.
